BP
BP Amoco required a web-based change process/workflow application that was globally accessible, and which was based on current business processes crucial to maintaining a reliable international system network. Based on the nature of the network it was designed to support, it was obvious that the system architecture had to be easily scalable.

Industry standard technology was used in the solution as it was specified by BP and designed and delivered by Trifolium. The application utilizes dynamic HTML combined with Java servlet technology and runs in a hosted WebSphere environment.

The completed GCMS is more than just a Change Management system Ð it is also a powerful workflow tool. As new changes are entered, a "Change Request" is created and is automatically routed to the correct people to review and approve (or deny) the request. As the change is approved during each step in the process, it continues to automatically flow to the next person (or process) in the loop. Therefore, changes are tracked and escalated until they have been successfully completed. This dynamic process allows authorized personnel to interact with the GCMS to insure everyone's ultimate goal (a secure and reliable network) is achieved.

The system is easy to use, with virtually no training time or "learning curve" needed. This helped make deployment faster and smoother, as users scattered around the globe could quickly begin enjoying the new process.

Deployed and used worldwide, the system has saved BP time and money, and has helped to ensure that all IT changes are performed correctly and with the full agreement of everyone affected. Other groups within BP are now looking at the GCMS solution to see how it can be enhanced to serve their needs. In the future, even more users may soon be able to take advantage of this powerful solution.
